
Jazmine was raised and born within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father proposed her to take on the position of curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved to the historic mansion. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated who is majoring in vocal performance. Sullivan sang as a contralto for the choir for children and later sang in the adult choir. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She relates that she was just 11 years old when a person asked her to sing solos at the church. She wasn't fully ready. "I had the privilege of being able to win the McDonald's competitionthat offered students from big cities the opportunity to perform 'Accept that God is God's Will'. The audience responded well." She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at 13. Sullivan signed her first contract to Jive Records when she was 15. The label initially signed Sullivan to Jive Records when she was fifteen. The singer-songwriter produced an entire album but this album did not see release. Sullivan was eventually dropped off the record label. Missy Elliott was her producer on several tracks on the album she released as her first. Of these "Backstabbers" by Timbaland the track that Elliott wrote for Sullivan, was her top track.
